SBF's Kelsey Sutcliffe bidding to win Miss Leeds 2011

SBF's Operation Support Executive, Kelsey Sutcliffe is the latest member of the team to be in the spotlight for her out-of-work activities, as she attempts to snare the coveted Miss Leeds crown. If she manages to win this, she would then be in the running for the national title, Miss England.

The final takes place at the Halo venue in Leeds on the 26th May.

We found out a little more about her and the Miss Leeds competition.

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

I am 21 years old and a daughter to the two most loving parents in the world. I love my job very much and the people I work with are amazing. I travelled for 4 months last year around Australia and Singapore and did many fantastic things, ranging from climbing the Sydney Harbour Bridge to white water rafting! I intend to travel again as I would class this now as a major hobby. I have done extra work in the past for the TV series Hollyoaks which was a great achievement. I try live life to the full and I am a bubbly and loud character, lets just say you know when I’m in the room!

What is the competition you are entering?

I entered for Miss Leeds on the off chance at the end of last year. I didn’t thing anything would come of it, I was curious more than anything to see if I would get an audition. So when I got a call the end of February asking me to go for an audition I was shocked more than anything. Then mid April I got the call saying I was successful and I was selected as one of the finalists!

Why do you want to win Miss Leeds?

Without sounding pretentious, I would love to win the Miss Leeds competition to show people it doesn’t matter what size clothes you wear, what religion you practice or what beliefs you have, beauty is inner deep. It’s not all about looks, it’s what’s inside that counts more than anything! I want to be a role model to people of all ages and genders and show them that anything is possible as long as you have the will and motivation to do it.

What charities are you supporting?

The charity Miss Leeds is supporting this year is Breast Cancer – The Haven (www.thehaven.org.uk). As part of my role it is important to raise as much money as possible for this worthy cause. For my part in raising money I have approached local companies asking them if they would be kind enough to donate gifts to raffle off. I did extremely well with this and got prices ranging from wine to a Garra Rufa fish pedicure. I also got meal vouchers for several restaurants, flowers, flower vouchers, cuddly toys, chocolate, hair products and many many more great things! I am also auctioning a signed Jedward concert poster on eBay which once again all proceeds go to Breast Cancer the Haven.
