Interview - SBF Employee (Joy Patterson)

Every month we literally put one of our employees under the spotlight and ask them a series of professional, and personal, questions. This month, it's Joy Patterson.

How old are you? 53

What's your professional background? I left school at the age of 16 and went to work for the GPO as a telephonist which I did for 3 years before moving abroad. On return I became a telephone engineer for BT in Cambridgeshire, testing the lines for faults.

I then moved into Sales & Customer Service, selling car parts up and down the country.

I've also worked for Hertz Car Hire at Manchester Airport where I met a few famous people!

What do you do at SBF? I'm an Operations Support Executive working in the back office at Skipton.

What are your primary responsibilities? Credit control and looking after a portfolio of clients and their customers. I'm heavily involved in building relationships with both sides and help resolve any problems that may occur. I currently look after a number of clients and have over 400 debtors to call on a monthly basis.

What’s the best thing about your job? Seeing all my hard work pay off when I meet and beat my collection targets!

What was your childhood ambition? As a child I always wanted to go to Disney World California (as that was the only one then). I did manage to go when I took my daughter. But before that, I also went to America after I met an American lady and became friends whilst on holiday in Greece.
